Ca'Baroncello

Bassano del Brenta > East bank - South

Michele Brunelli

Ca' Baroncello is a borough of Bassano located east of la Brenta. It borders the borough of San Marco (to the north), Centro Storico and Quartiere Firenze (both to the west) and the municipality of Cassola (to the south and the east). Within Ca' Baroncello, near the border with San Marco, a large rosta can be observed, which has olive trees along its course. Its name is Canale Occidentale and splits into Canale Occidentale di Levante and Canale Occidentale di Ponente. This brings water to a number of smaller channels and ditches that run both near the centre of Bassano and also through the southern boroughs.

^^ Canale Occidentale di Levante (looking westwards) flowing in Cassola. It splits from Canale Occidentale in Ca' Baroncello and derives ultimately from Tronco Basso and Canale Barziza, which originates in Campolongo near Campese. It then flows south and west to Cassola. In the picture, a smaller ditch is visible, which should be Canale Gnoato according to the documents.

^^ Canale Occidentale flowing from east (in the background) to the west. It takes water from Ramo Unito, deriving ultimately from Tronco Basso and Canale Ca' Barziza, which originates in Campolongo, near Campese. Through Canale Occidentale di Levante and Canale Occidentale di Ponente, its waters feed a system of ditches that reach the southern fields of Bassano and the municipality of Rosą. The water of Canale Occidentale also reach small ditches and underground channels in Santa Croce and Borgo Zucco, near the centre of Bassano.

Another ditch in Cassola (looking northwards): its water comes from Ca' Baroncello, in the north.
